Blue Plan Strategy

Last edited: - Back to overview

For more than 150 years, we have been an organization with bold ambitions: to inspire others, create added value for our customers, and have a positive impact on our environment and our society. Our sustainability strategy, Blue Plan, maps out how we can make this vision a reality.

Building a more sustainable future will undoubtedly involve change. We have certainly not yet found an answer to every question. But first and foremost, we see opportunity in change and transformation – great potential for us as a company, but above all for our society and our environment. And we strongly believe that a sustainable approach to business is the only way forward. With that in mind, our Blue Plan provides the foundation for our continued business success and the ambitions we aim to achieve by 2030.

“Blue Plan demonstrates our courage to change and our desire to help build a sustainable future. You can rest assured that our commitment is stronger than ever.”

Axel Kühner, CEO

Blue Plan encompasses all parts of our company around the world. It focuses on three major priority areas, which we have identified as key issues that will shape Greiner’s future: climate change, creating a circular business, and people. Blue Plan also includes three overarching goals that we want to achieve by 2030. While these objectives are ambitious and will require a great deal of effort, we believe that this course of action is the only way forward. You are welcome to hear for yourself what our employees have to say.

We want to be climate neutral by 2030.

The climate crisis affects us all. At Greiner, we want to do our part in the fight against climate change. That commitment includes heavily reducing our emissions by increasing our use of renewable energy and continuously improving energy efficiency.

We want to be a fully circular business by 2030.

Ensuring that resources are recycled and recirculated will be the great challenge of the decade ahead. We will tackle this challenge by doing even more as a company to create sustainable product designs. Our goal is to keep minimizing the environmental impact of our products and to optimize resource use during the production process.

We want all our employees to be prepared for the challenges of the future.

The knowledge and skills of our employees are the key to a sustainable future. With that in mind, we will do more than ever before to invest in professional development and training, step up health and safety in the workplace, and strengthen our efforts to support diversity.

Sustainability Report

“The task we are facing could not be more of a challenge. Our economy and society require ecological modernization. And time is running out. This decade will be crucial. So we have no choice: We must make the years ahead the "roaring twenties" of sustainability and transformation.” Axel Kühner, CEO Greiner AG

“If not us, who?" is the question raised by the whole of the Greiner Sustainability Report 2020. On more than 180 pages, you will find out transparently where we stand on our journey to become a sustainable company. Together we are shaping change for a better future!

"If not us, who?" This is the title of our new report, because we believe that change comes from within and therefore requires all of us. Our report provides insights into the many efforts we are making to live up to our responsibility. Because only as a sustainable company can we shape a better tomorrow.
