VACUETTE&reg; glucose tubes are used to determine glucose. All glucose tubes (except FC mix) can also be used for the determination of lactate.<br /><br />The glucose tube from Greiner Bio-One is available in three versions: FX sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate, FE sodium fluoride/K3 EDTA and FC mix.<br /><br />The powder additive in the FC mix tube lowers the pH and blocks the pH-dependent enzymes that would be active in the initial phase of the glycolysis cascade. The combination of the citrate-fluoride-EDTA additive in the tube stabilizes the in vivo concentration of glucose in the sample from the beginning. The sample is stabilized for up to 48 hours immediately after collection.
